About Me
The twang in my voice was forged in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. Growing up in a small town made me hungry to learn more about the world. I've become a versatile writer and editor with a background in journalism, science communication, and public outreach.
I hold a master’s degree in journalism with a focus on environmental reporting for both print and broadcast platforms. Over the last 15 years, I've translated complex research into accessible stories for national laboratories, nonprofit partners, and local communities. My work has ranged from internal documentation and case studies to award-winning features on environmental issues, the arts, and public policy.
In 2023, I got the opportunity to attend the Knight Journalism National Critics Institute, a two-week intensive arts criticism fellowship held at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut—an experience that sharpened my critical voice and further expanded my editorial range.
Outside of writing, I'm an amateur costumer, a mediocre clarinet player, a music trivia enthusiast, and a novice beekeeper. I volunteer at the Denver Botanic Gardens and find creative energy in painting and reading fiction.
